if this was GigE this would be hot. I have the GigE version and it works great.

I wish they'd stop selling 100mbps devices... it's rather pointless when all new PCs and devices support gigabit or 802.11n (150~450mbps) speeds.

All it does is provide an artificial "budget" line of product for manufacturers to keep the gigabit stuff priced at a higher tier. Same reasoning keeps 802.11g/b hardware on the shelves, even though nobody buys it.

Even my internet speeds are creeping up on 100mbps (currently @ 60mbps).

There simply is no valid reason for keeping the old stuff around - if there was, we'd also still be able to find 10mbps BNC networking gear, or better yet - token ring.

They have to sell off the old parts, no need for the rest I have plenty along with my arcnet hubs.

For the stated reason, 100mbps will be gone when 10gbps is the new speed. 1 gbps will be the new 100mbps instead.

I thought about getting one to consolidate all my legacy devices on one low power switch. Plenty of offices must still have some old power guzzling hubs in the system, and even with a few older slower devices there can be advantages to isolating the slower stuff on dedicated switches.

gig is the way to go. even if you dont saturate your 100mb connection, the gig always feels faster.
