searched, but didn't find this deal. sry if its a repost.

http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=33-156-141&depa=0

trendnet is giving rebates on almost all of their wireless products.

i ordered two and both came in today. downloaded newest drivers beforehand and read installation notes. installed and set it up. no prolems whatsoever. can't tell you how well this card performs cause i'm right next to my router. (now i can finally go back upstairs hehe :))

but there's been absolutely NO problems so far. i've heard trendnet has excellent linux support. plus i think latest drivers might give you wpa support. not sure.

Ummmmmmm,

[*]Then the post title is deceptive, you have no idea if it's "one of the best".

[*]Why in the world would one use a Wifi card, being inherantly much slower than even the free integrated 100Mb mobo adapter when the router is so close?

Don't get me wrong, these might be great 11g cards, I don't have any. I do have a Trendnet 11b card and it's by far the worst 11b card I've ever had, can't even manage a connection 2 rooms away when every other card swapped in it's place, can.

Good price AR though if it works OK.

I bought the D-Link Card from Bestbuy the other day for $5 AR and it works great, and the router is two houses away. You really can't tell how good the card is if the router is right next to the card. Still pretty good if you didnt jump on the Bestbuy card.

I have the 802.11b, Trendnet, and for $8 after rebate (hasn't arrived yet, 1.5 months(?)), it seems to work pretty well, I haven't had any issues, I like how their software gives a percentage of signal, not just like 1-5 bars.

1. my friend has actually bought and tested about 3-4 different wireless network cards (802.11g) including linksys d-link, etc and eventually settled on this one. he tested them as well as different wireless routers. i've had a linksys and it had occassional hiccups as well as experiencing its bloated software. my brother had one of these, but one of his friends broke it (small metal band). but don't take my word for it. its only an opinion...

2. reread my post regarding moving upstairs.

edit: sry if i sounded rude, it was late and i had to type quick. from the cards all my friends have had and tested, trendnet seemed to be the best. i'll add imho to the line if you'd like.

I missed out on the other deals so I guess I'll try this. According to the reviews I've seen I got a 50-50 chance of being ok with the new drivers. My WG311 was not stable so I returned it.

Nice.

However, it is slightly cheaper, $1 or so, at buy.com with the use of the 5% off coupon.

buy.com - 25.67 shipped with coupon
newegg.com - 29.98 shipped

Different rebate though.

Got mine installed now and am sitting on the other side of the house from my base using a laptop with no problems. Haven't had time to really test it yet but is far better than the WG311 I had.

Pretty good card. I had one. Only downfall is that the drivers are poor, so if your laptop goes into Standby and then try to wake it up, it will usually hang for some reason.
