in stores or on the website... someone was saying that it takes 3 seconds to switch, but mine is instantaneous...

kvm

the cables are only 4 footers, though...

i have this one. a decent unit, although not as reliable as a "regular" ps2 units. just make sure to have the kvm accessible because it is prone to locking up and you either have to disconnect the usb power or manually press buttons to switch screens

I have this one from PC Connection when it was 5 buck after rebate. I have to say it's a lot better than the IOGear POS it replaced. It actually switches and recognizes my Saitek.

I was torn between getting the 4-port Trendnet USB KVM with audio at Office Depot and a similar unit by AirLink from Fry's. I went with the AirLink because it was on the shelf. What I don't like is that it shows a lot of flicker on CRTs. Even set to 85 Hz, it looks and feels like it's 60.

Do the Trendnets have this issue?

Thanks, I will probably try this for the price. I really just need a USB switch so video quality doesn't matter, I just hope it doesn't go FUBAR on me.

I bought a bunch of these last time they were $15, to resell at the flea.

Anyways, I tried out the PS/2 model, and I couldn't get it to work. I was using an IBM M-13 trackpoint II PS/2 keyboard (which also uses the mouse connector).

I couldn't get the PCs to recognize that there was a keyboard plugged in. Has anyone else had this problem with these units? Or did I just get a defective one?

Well so far so good. Got a Lenovo keyboard with built-in fingerprint reader and my Logitech mouse, both USB. Plugged it in, ran the USB cables to each system and it works fine.

There is a couple seconds of delay but I don't mind. I'm not using the video part of it so I can't comment on image quality.

Hopefully it will last
