I'm sure that alot of you have gotten copies of PC-Cillin 2002 FREE with your motherboard, it's a great little program, but the newest one is PC Cillin 2004 Internet Security, and it's even better.

Use Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2004 Internet Security! It's a really neat program, for 50$ retail price, you get Anti-Virus, Firewall, eMail Spam Blocker, and their cool Real-Time Scanning and Emergency Internet Lock features! What's really great is that the firewall isn't restricting when you play games, like some brands are, and also, it doesn't take hostage of your computer like norton does.

The Discount Deal-thingy-ma-jigger

Here's the real kicker, I know that I said it was $50 retail, but if you own ANY microsoft software, which I'm sure that you do, you can go here: http://www.trendmicro.com/en/p...llin/buy/microsoft.htm
and get the whole program for only $29.95 -- it has everything that norton internet security has, but it's (in my opinion) better, and cheaper!

Heya, I definitely agree that Trend's offerings are better than the competition. If you install SP2 and do not have antivirus and click on the "How?" link you are taken to this page where you can buy PC-Cillin 2004 for $25. Just scroll to the bottom and click on the Trend Micro icon, or just follow this link. Both are great deals and I'm not sure how long the Microsoft one will be around for but if you don't have antivirus sofware this one is very good.

Wow, an even better deal... I'm still hurting because I payed $50 for mine, lol. Oh well, even at $50, it's still a better deal than ANYTHING else =). Nice to see another trend user out there.

Is 2004/2005 faster than 2002? I got 2002 free with my motherboard and it really slows down disk I/O. Very noticeable in FarCry when it's loading maps. So I disable it and today I got fed up with it and removed it.

Does this software package block *banner ads* like Norton's Internet Security does? Note, this is not popups, but actual banner ads that NIS does a pretty good job of disposing.

Thanks

SP2 takes care of the banner ads - NIS is just a HOG on my boot time - I am using PCcillin now - it also seems bettter with trojans.

Dude I have never heard that, it sounds like a bunch of baloney. The firewall works excellent.

It appears that I was wrong, sorry for the confusion. I was thinking of CA's anti-virus products, that have a version of ZA bundled with them, and also remembering older mobo CDs that used to have PCCillin and ZoneAlarm bundled together on the same disc.
