I have been using trend also and am extremly happy with it. One thing to note. People say its light on the resources. I don't know about that. At times it will be using 70MB of memory. It is light on processor time though. If you have to go with a free antivirus program i like AVG because it automatically downloads updates.

FWIW: CompUSA has this for $0 AR (2 rebates, 1 is an upgrade from any AV) this week.

Also, after these deals are gone, you can get this for $25, no rebates from TrendMicro via the link for XP users with no AV. I don't have the link handy, but it appears on the warning screen (what can I do about it) in XP if XP (SPx) finds no AV installed. You can get a 90 day free trial or a 1 year for $25.

haha, how did norton & mcafee do better then pc-cillin? I've used all 3, & pc-cillin has caught more then both of those combined for me... Plus, norton & mcafee are really annoying about system resources. I remember when I tried to uninstall norton... I kept on getting an error that a file was missing everytime I ran command prompt (the file was linked to norton). Trend Micro is by far my favorite/best I have ever used. Definitely worth the cost.

Trend Micro will do an automatic download of new updates if thats what you want. Personally with TM running and Webroot Spyware I disable the automatics and update myself manually--all your taking about is clicking a button, the program itself will do an automatic download from there.

I don't need those two programs and 10 others "phoning home" all the time looking for updates--talk about killing performance.

No...not free from CompUSA,there's 5.00 in shipping, plus sales tax. That would add $9.10 to my bill, almost a wash from the Newegg deal and one more rebate to send in that you always wonder if it will show up or not.

The Newegg thing is a download so no shipping or sales tax or waiting. I really don't need the program CD,box, blah blah in my hand,I just copy the download to a CD for safe keeping.
