I have a tree that's pretty close to the house and it has lifted up and cracked the slab of concrete and is now slanted towards the porch and when it rains, all the water rushes onto the porch (not pretty). The porch is also concrete and at ground level.
My question is........ If I have the tree removed (they do leave the stump) will I have any future problems underground after the roots start to die? Caving/Sinking in that area?
What I planned on doing was to remove the tree and slab of concrete, dig down at least 1.5ft lower than the porch and fill it with stone/gravel and finish it off with some of those decorative walkway blocks so that when it rains, it won't come onto the porch.
I recently moved to TN from FL and DAMN, tree removal is cheap as hell here. I had a tree trimming outfit give me an estimate on trimming an oak down where I used to live in FL and they wanted $850.00 just to trim a few sagging branches. Here in TN, I can have a tree removed for $350.00 !!!!!
