I'm looking for one too. I've been thinking about rigging up a generator so I can power my pc by walking on the treadmill. I will just have to figure out how to type and walk at the same time.

my parents got a treadmill last year and i started using it. lost about 40 lbs using it about 4 times a week for 6 months.. very good investment. however, it does get VERY boring, even if you're watching tv or listening to music while you do it. Once i started jogging outdoors (after i got into better shape of course) it was hard to go back to using the treadmill again. I haven't used the treadmill for about 5 months now, and jogging outdoors works you out alot better (hurts alot more too but no pain no gain!)

You should normally alternate between 2-10 miles.

hey areohbe, can you tell me the brand of the treadmill your parent brought? I am looking to buy one too, but with the frequent breakdowns that i saw at my school, i want to get a reliable machine that won't broke after a few months of usage.

Is the motor on treadmill very loud when it runs? Or are the more expensive one very quiet? I saw one @699 and the motor was noisy.

Treadmills are the best thing ever. I use the one at the UCSB gym about 4 times a week. I run between 2-3 miles on it each time I get on it. I average about 8 minutes a mile. It feels so good after I run, you can eat whatever you want to and not worry about it!
