I'm going to be in the market to buy a treadmill for the house - so space is not a factor, and the budget is flexable. I will start doing preliminary research on what models are good or most preferred.

Before I do, do any of you have suggestions on what to look for, or what to watch out for?

My wife will be walking on it primarily, but i'll run on it when i cant make it to the gym. It wont be folded up, we have plenty of room.

I didnt realize the classes were so different...but im looking in this range:

Craigslist baby! Take advantage of the market right now. People are being laid off, so disposable income is lacking. This usually results in getting rid of that 'clothes hanger' of a treadmill that's been taking up space in the garage.

That is if you are open to buy used.

I used to think you had to spend $2K and up for a good treadmill. Well after going through 2 $2500 Precor Piles of Shite! in less than 5 years I've changed my mind. Bought a $800 Horizon fitness model that lasted 5 years. Now using a $600 Nordic Track (6 months or so old) and it works pretty good.

We don't use it near as much as the Horizon, where I would put in many 10 mile 6:45 pace runs.

Point of the post- Stay the hell away from Precor- crap machines and even crappier customer service (actually none!) and crap dealer support.
