One of my family members is going on a trip overseas to Europe and needs a converter for her mac, and battery charger for her camera. I heard you needed special ones for electronic equipment and not just regular converters, anyone who has travelled overseas and had to deal with power conversion issues for their laptop and other electronics want to help me out here? Thanks in advance.

Most notebook power adapters these days will work in both 110v and 220v/240v environments. You will potentially need a plug converter to mate the plug to the foreign outlet however.

On the back of your Apple power brick should be the listed/supported voltage ranges.

As far as the camera goes, you may find the same thing, though probably will need a transformer to ensure safe charging. For a camera, I'd imagine it wouldn't have to be too beefy a transformer.

Buy them here, as overseas, on location, they tend to rip you off.

Also, depending on where she is travelling, some hotels offer both 220/240v outlets and North American style outlets... there's a numeric code for the type... beats me what that is. ie; the Raffles in Singapore offers traditional american type 110v outlets in one area of the hotel room for their guests.

Have her call the hotels and check.
