Travelling by bus

I need to get from Seattle, WA to Columbia, MO by the cheapest means possible. It seems a Greyhound bus fare (round-trip) would be $170-$200. So far this is the best option I could find, and although it would likely end up being boring as hell I suppose driving across country is more memorable than flying.

How is travelling long distances by bus? Should I just cough up more money for a plane ticket?

flying is fun

but if you got the time, the bus trip could be more exciting. no way you can drive yourself?

I can drive myself, but I calculated at 20 mpg and 2,000 miles and $2.70/gallon, the trip could cost $270 each way with gasoline alone. It does give me a place to sleep though which is advantageous, but with the extra cost I'd probably be better off just getting a motel or camping.

I went to Atlantic City in a bus once, and I was nervous because the bus driver was speeding in excess of 90MPH on the turnpike.

90MPH on the Turnpike in a car is fine, I travel at these speeds occasionally, but in a bus, it makes me kinda nervous.

I don't trust these drivers.

How about a train? More than 1 toilet, usually serve food, probably faster than bus and if it's a few days you could get a bed. My grandma used to go from bay area to desmoines back in her day.

bus sucks. that is like a 24 hr long ride. though it would be bareable if you brought a couple good books and a GBA/DS/PSP. I rode the greyhound for 22 hours once, but it wasn't so bad cause i had special brownies.

Why not put yourself in a crate and ship yourself?

Don't forget to add to your crate a light, some food, water, and a couple of bottles to pee in!

Seriously though, I hate the bus. I took it from Houston to LA once and back. Never do it again. Flying is so much better.

Trains are as much as if not more expensive than flying
