Traveling with Xbox 360

For some reason, I consider the Xbox 360 to be a delicate flower, but I'm going to the Bay Area for a month by myself for work and I am considering taking it. I have some sight-seeing planned, but I am not going to be going out every single day.

Will I have any issues lugging it around or packing it as carry-on, or should I just get a PSP?
 
I fit mine in an over the shoulder bookbag, which would fit fine for carry-on. As long as make sure no disc is in there, I'm sure you'll be fine.
 
When I first started taking mine with me, i was scared as hell. I have an official xbox bag thats pretty well padded. I now realize that traveling is nothing compared to the red rings in terms of things I need to worry about.

No, seriously... how old is the 360? I had a first gen 360 that had given me no trouble at all for a couple of years, but I ended up with an Elite. So I decided to sell my Premium. The guy I sold it to got the RRoD less than a week after I sold it to him. I can only assume that shipping caused the RRoD. If you have an early system I'd think twice about lugging it around on trips.

It is a Falcon. I got it in December.

Yeah... except you're much more careful carrying it yourself vs. what the postal companies do to things. It's not the moving that did it, it's HOW it was moved.
 
Got a first gen here and schlepped it cross-country nestled next to a 19" LCD monitor both in a large backpack in the back seat of my truck. Kept it with me so I could play before the furniture arrived. It came through the ordeal with no problems.
 
I took my Wii from Michigan to Texas and didn't have a problem. Obviously not an Xbox but a console nonetheless. I just took it in a backpack as a carryon on the flights.
 
I've lugged my PS3 across the Pacific and back in a backpack. Went fine. Although you have to take it out at security like a laptop. So an easy in and out is suggested.
 
Travelled by air at least half a dozen times with my 360 (purchased Aug 2006), and have toted it along for road trips up and down the Pacific Coast more times than I can remember. No issues at all.

Used the Messenger Bag - well padded. Only time I get nervous is during security checkpoints at the airport, as mentioned previously. I usually get thru quickly enough to make sure I'm the one guiding it onto the conveyor, and subsequently "catching" it on the other side. I've had to ask once for the TSA gal to grab it right when it came out of the X-ray machine - those conveyors are sometimes more rough than the people.

Just be prudent and careful. If you baby it, it'll be just fine.
 
My 360 will be making the trek from the east coast to Idaho in a few weeks. I'm heading out for work for 2 months. Hopefully it'll hold up. I was thinking about putting it in my luggage and packing around it really well, but given that luggage can't be locked, I think it's going in the carry on .. that and my acoustic guitar.
