I travel about every three months for 2-3 weeks each time. Usually stay in a hotel w/ a tiny gym and crappy workout equipment. I was wondering if I can bring my weight gainer/creatine/glutamine/supplements in cargo without a problem? Anyone travel a lot for work? how do you manage to have all your supplements with you and stay in shape?

I travel a lot for work, but I mainly am just worried about making sure I pack my coffee maker, filters, grinder, and fresh beans...

Why would you want to bring weightgainer and creatine if you're stuck with a "crappy gym?" It seems to me that taking those particular supplements without a rigerous training regimen will result in fatty weight gain.

First figure out how you're going to work out, THEN figure out how to deal with your supplements.

But I'm not a fan of weight gainer in any circumstance.

don't put it in your carry on unless you want to get hauled off the plane for carrying "Anthrax" ;)

I travel constantly but don't take the supplements like you.

I run when I can, which is usually fun in a new place, plus make use of the hotel gym.

So there's aerobic + weight = a pretty good workout. I was a swimmer so I swim laps if there's a long pool.

Plus, I make a conscious effort to put a much walking into the day as I can, always take the stairs not the elevator whenever possible, stuff like that. That really helps.

If you don't like to run, they say you still get a pretty good workout from a long walk, so you might consider that.

The worst is airplane confinement trapped in air that's years old, filled with everyones' sneezes, food smells, etc. All you can do is stretch often.

The TSA doesn't have any restrictions on OTC drugs/supplements in checked luggage. I would keep them in their original packaging though as I've had supplements confiscated during a road-side search because they were in a plastic baggie.

It'd be kinda hard carrying a 5 lb bucket of whey around...

I took my supplements from the USA to New Zealand and back without problem.

+1 on the little things like the steps. I laugh when I see people taking the elevator up 1 story in a hotel. The little things like this can certainly help, but nothing beats a dedicated work out. You'll most likely be limited to just aerobic; I'd say 1 in 10 hotels that I stay in have some type of nautilus or weight lifting machine. Failing that, there is always pushups/situps/pull ups/etc.

I tend to overeat on business trips due to
1) Wanting to 'use up' the per diem
2) Trained to clean up the plate

Hard habit to break.

I travel with my supplements all the time to compeitions and seminors etc. Make sure they are in the original container and if possible sealed and you will not have any problems. Although leaving something with "methyl" on the container (even though it could be harmless) out in the open in your suitcase could cause trouble.

If you have any liquid supplements put them in a plastic bag as the pressure could cause the container to pop.

I usually run, a bit of weights depending on the hotel and I also pack my tennis racquet. I used to bring my Gi and also scout out karate clubs in the area that I was staying at.
