for those of you who travel, and do backpacking, is it better to go alone or with friends? i can think of pros and cons for both. if you go by yourself, you have complete freedom as to what you do, but things could get lonely, always doing things alone. friends would keep you company, but then there's always the problem of not agreeing on what to do, or getting irritated after spending day and night with them.

i'm thinkin of going somewhere in the next couple months, but i'm having problems finding friends who can go. they either have no money (unemployed) or have no time (have jobs).

With someone is usually better because you have someone to talk to. Obviously you pick someone you get along with well, and that way there aren't too many disagreements.

Done, both and I prefer going alone.

Going alone can be lonely at time, however you don't have to have a third leg to drag you down when hook up with women.

For backpacking better with someone else. It ends up being much safer and if it is someone you get along with more fun. But basically in backpacking situations I would not want to be out alone, it increases chances of injury and death exponetially.

not only that, but I want someone to share the experience with, not just have pictures.

go with someone who is not familiar with the kind of trip but is interested in the challenge. then you would be the dictator and would have freedom to do more things because you'd be calling the shots.

it's also much safer, because you never know what could happen out there.

and yes, bring a camera.

I'd say with someone.

I went to macedonia for 4 days this summer alone. I am the introverted type, but even I couldn't stand being so alone for so long. This was a huge contract from several trips I took with 2 other friends, where we had a great time.

You just have to keep in mind that after 3-4 days you will get tired of each other, even if that person is your best friend, so its important to spend time alone as well.

That is why I won't take mine. she considers the extra 50 in a parking lot a chance to complain about walking then wonders why I won't take her with me where I require 20 miles a day.

Last trip for me was Europe for a month, and I ended up almost throwing my friend out the window on many occasions. Even though it was miserable being around him for that long I don't know if I would have wanted to be alone. Experiences like that are, imo, better with someone else.

depends on where u r going...I think for safety reasons take a friend plus you will always have someone to do things with
