My fiance and I are trying to plan our wedding, and we are good with March, April, or September. For the honeymoon, we'd like to go to Scotland and Germany.

Does anyone know if Scotland or Germany are bad in any of those months? I've been to Scotland before in March, and I thought it was beautiful with the snow still on the hills in the north. Unfortunately, I have never been to Germany, so I don't know what it would be like in any of those months. I imagine October in Germany would be hectic with Octoberfest going on, but if it's not horrible, I'd love to see it then.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Best in terms of what? Weather can always be hit or miss, at least in Germany. I was there in August and it was cold (50s) and rainy and back in September and it was warm (70s/80s) and sunny. Germany had its real summer in April/May, but that was unusual this year.

Tourism should be less in any of those months.

Oktober Fest is only an issue if you are going to Munich towards the end of September/early October. Not the first place I would take my new wife either. An Alpine/southern Germany/Austria/Swiss/northern Italy trip would be much more to my liking.

Can't say much about Scotland.

I just want to know that there aren't any really bad times to go. Like, are there times of year when tours and such aren't running? Are there times of year when stuff in Scotland is down because of weather? Are there ridiculous seasons where tourism is crazy?

Like I said, Munich is pretty jammed for late Sept/early Oct. Otherwise, Berlin and Munich have decent tourist traffic July an August I would say. Otherwise, no big deal. September should be a nice time to go, or perhaps December. Christmas time is a wonderful time to be there.

Weather is always hit or miss. I have given up on trying to predict trends.

I travel to Germany all the time, so if you have more questions, feel free to PM.
