Travel insurance?

I know someone on here works in travel insurance. My mom is going to the Mediterranean in Sept to Nov and wants to buy her tickets now, but the flexible tickets prices are insane. She wants to get the regular tickets but have travel insurance in case she needs to change the flights for some reason, and that reason alone.

Any info on best way to go for this need?

Talk to aaa if you are a member. We have always bought travel insurance in case of whatever weather or disaster. Typically it is pretty cheap but that is also my wife’s duty.
I do know she’s got it from aaa

Thanks. She is a AAA member so that's a good place to start that we did not think of.

It's not worth it. Many airlines still do not have change fee if you need to cancel and change your travel date. And hotels and rental cars all allow cancellations up to 24-48 hours til travel date. But if she's going for couple months, she's probably not staying in hotels or renting rental car. Sounds like she's staying with family.

Yes it's purely to cover a change in flight dates and nothing else, we have a house there, so this has nothing to do with accommodations or cars as you noted. Travel insurance is useless for just that?

You can change or cancel for free with most airlines right now. So you don't need travel insurance if you just want to change the flight. Which airline is she thinking of booking?

British Airways business class. At 77 years young she is going to splurge on some comfort after flying there dozens and dozens of times in economy

You should also check what protections her credit card has. Many credit cards, especially premium cards like Chase Sapphire Reserve and the like, will cover some circumstances like illness and weather.

You can change or cancel for free with British Airways. At least until sometime in 2022 or 2023 I think. It's their Book with Confidence promotion they're doing. Pretty much all full service airlines currently have no change or cancellation fees right now.

Thanks. I sent that to her now. I have no idea why she got the idea in her head that she will be screwed over if she has to change a flight. She asked me today to check for insurance for her because she is nervous, and I figured I'd check. I should have just went to the BA website apparently.

Some airlines have reinstituted more restrictions on their tickets so maybe she heard or saw so that

If you have any travel credit cards, check them out too. My Hilton Aspire Amex picked up Travel Insurance as a benefit this past year.
