I'd like to start getting some travel ideas for spring break this year. We'd like to stay in the US. We are in Missouri so something within about 15 hours driving time would be preferred. We can do a hotel or camping. Any ideas? Of course, being college students the cheaper the better. :)

Thanks for the ideas!

I went to college in Missouri and most of my friends went on spring break to Panama City....It's not too bad of a drive.....It really just depends on what you want to do....
Panama City is really only a good destination if all you plan on doing is getting drunk and looking to hook up....I had a girlfriend most of the way through college so no Panama City for me.... If you want to go camping there are some pretty cool places around the Gulf Shores in Alabama...which I've always wanted to do..... I also had a friend one year drive down to Key West and camp at the state park down there....It's a long freaking ways but your definitely going to have warm weather and he and his buddies had such a good time....he is thinking about doing it again for a vacation.....

Heh heh. No hooking up for us. ;) Me and my b/f looked at going to Key West, but camping is super expensive down there. We were there once when we went on a cruise and may go there that way again. We cruised for 4 days for less than 3 days of hotel in Key West would cost us ;)

Depending on Temps (varies depending on when your spring break is) and the kinda camping gear you have....Kayaking or canoeing in the Ozark National Scenic riverways might not be a bad option....It's close so your travel expenses would be really low so you could probably get a cabin if you wanted to with the $$$ you save from not driving very far.....
I camped and hiked at Sam A Baker state park a couple of weeks before christmas when the weather was nice and I had a blast....if your really worried about $$$ doing something not very far from where you are might be a good option....
Arkansas also has some pretty neat areas to check out as well...I went camping down there this past fall and had a pretty good time... Mt. Magazine is really awesome and the cabins and lodge on the mountain down there are really nice with views that make you think your in the freaking rockies....Not many people know this but Mt. Magazine in Arkansas is the highest point in the US between the rockies and the Appalachian mountain ranges....Definitely worth checking out...
