Travel camera gears, advice?

Last year, I went to south america for 6 months with
nikon d40
nikon 35mm
tokina 11-16mm
benro tripod (2.2lbs) link
lowepro passport sling

total weight was about 10lbs.

for point and shoot, i got the panasonic zs3. i was counting on the zs3 zooming capability, but it was stolen after 1.5 month into the trip.

that was a lot of weight and I had to carry everything. I am just sick of carrying all those weight. I hate dusts on the sensor too.

this year, I am going for the m43 format. This is what i am thinking,

panasonic G3
20mm pancake lens or the 14-42mm x
14-200mm

for p&s, i will get the panasonic TS3, unless they have something better

I am thinking if I should get a gorillapod or use the same tripod I already have.

also, I think I want a hip/waist bag. any recommendation?

of course, need to include a pic, my favorite shot from my south america travel.
