How many of you doing this?

I am going to spend my christmas and new year in paris and edinburgh....alone. I just intend to meet up some people in the hostel.

some of my friends gave me a shocking expression that I would go to travel just on my own and I don't see anything wrong with it. It is easier to plan too.

damn my drunk attention whoring has ruined my reputation, such is my punishment

Nawh, I was actually thinking of a guy who lived on my dorm floor who drank alone. We used to blast that song under the crack of his door.

Then I remembered your issues and felt bad, but just for a split second, and nowhere near bad enough to not post it :)

I went to Japan for 3 weeks on my own 2 years ago and it was the best trip of my life. You are the only one that can really tell whether you will be able to handle traveling on your own, but if you are happy doing stuff solo on a regular basis, then you should be fine.

Not only will the vacation cost half as much, but you'll have unlimited "social" opportunities. :D

:music:
My shadow's the only one that faps beside me
My sweaty hands the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there would rub me
'Til then I'll fap alone...

I've never traveled alone, but considering I moved 3000 miles away to a city where I don't really know anyone....I do a lot of things alone. Whatever floats your boat.

Much better way to meet people, but watch out cuz the loners are always first targets by scumbags.

Rent a room, pick-up a pair of twins and get a pound of blow.

Watching a movie and eating out at a restaurant alone is fine, but traveling alone for leisure is creepy and sad.

Co-worker: "So did you go anywhere during the holidays?"
You: "Yeah, I went to Paris."
Co-worker: "Cool! With your SO?"
You: "No, by myself."
Co-worker: Slowly backs up and exits R&R lounge

I've been living alone in an unfamiliar city for 9 months now, eating in a restaurant alone still feels weird to me. I've done the movies alone plenty of times, and I'll go to fast food type places...but going to a real restaurant myself always seems odd. What do I do while I'm waiting for the food, stare at everyone else in the restaurant?

I don't mind traveling alone. The loss of companionship is offset by not having to compromise anything.

There are a ton of things you can do, you just haven't thought about them yet:

-talk to yourself
-rub your nipples and blow kisses to strangers
-shadow boxing in place

to name a few

I have traveled extensively in the US by motorcycle by myself and I love it. I have never felt lonely or unsafe but the most frequently asked question I hear is "aren't you afraid". The three best things about travel alone are you never have to wait for someone or go anywhere that doesn't interest you, and getting home when you are finished

I did this a lot while I was in college...and on purpose. I like to "get away" from my normal life and doing it on your own is the best way. You also end up meeting fascinating people.

I think it is greatly dependent on your personality on how well it works. If you're friendly, you should have no problem meeting people and having a good time.

On that note...while Edinburgh is awesome...I don't know if I would choose Christmas/New Years as the time to visit. I was just there around Thanksgiving for a wedding and it was cold, days were short, and the weather was...well lets just say south of perfect. I'd stay on continental Europe if I was going that time of the year.
