Transport Motorcycle inside Honda Element?

I've seen some people do this, and i'm wondering if it would be totally insane for me to buy a Honda Element and stick my 848 in it? Any other relatively small vehicles that can have a sportsbike shoved into it?

As much as I initially wanted to come here to rage, I actually have a picture on my phone of this exact same thing - a 600 inside a Honda element tied down with tow straps..

It only weighs like 350lbs. That's about the same as the average 2 passengers.

go look at http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/ and you'll see people putting all sorts of things into their elements, including motorcycles. it's not really a big deal.

😕 What world are you living in where a 600cc street bike weighs 350lbs? Maybe 370 dry but 350lbs? Wet? No fucking way.

Still, a Honda Element should be plenty capable of hauling a 400+ lb bike provided you could fit it inside and strap it down securely.

I'd probably go with a small open trailer though. Much easier to load and you can strap it down better. A friend of mine has one he bought at Harbor Freight for around $200. He made some ramps for it and mounted a device to hold the front wheel. He tows it behind his Hyundai SUV.

Why not?

Because of possible damage to the car and bike loading it. Because the motorcycle gas tank is in the passenger compartment of the car. Because the car doesn't have proper tie down points to keep the bike from slamming into your back during a panic stop.
You need a truck or a motorcycle trailer.

A cheap ranger or trailer makes 100000x more sense IMO. I've seen people do this with minivans and stuff too, it's always a major PITA.


I love being able to push my bike up a ramp right into a baxley chock, tie down at triple and subframe and be done. Takes 10 minutes, max.
