Transmit/ Credit problem!!!

When I hit the transmit button the transmit screen comes up, it shows "connecting to server", then the screen disappears! On the SETI Driver page it still shows the "Ready to transmit".. number the same and the "need to fill" number the same. When I click "transmit" again, it shows the screen "deleting temp files", it connects to server and reloads the file. No credit for any new results! The last six units have done that! HELP!!!

Seti driver doesn't show stats, so you may be sending your work units and just not noticing them.

Just need some info to get started on figuring out your problem:

Are you using a TeAm Queue? (or going directly to bezerkly😛 ?)
What is you SETI name? (I didn't see przero on our team so I assume your seti name is different)

P.R. # 346 on TeamAnandTech stats page. Send directly to Berkely. Also checked stats on
Seti Site.

Hmmm...I show you at #347 with 1417 WU's (at 347 because Rattledagger rejoined with 2k + WU's)....

Does that seem right? 😕

Nope, I've transmitted 5 more today, but they don't show up. Therein lies the problem.

Do the units actually go somewhere (we don't know where yet) or do they stay on your PC (Yellow SETIDriver Icon?)?

If they stay there, you might want to try restarting SETIDriver or changing to using one of the Team Queues to transmit (recommended anyway) to...see Poof's thread here on the TeAm queues! 🙂

If the units are goin (transmitted somewhere), you may want to check your user_info.sah file (in any of the numbered folders in the SETIDriver folder) to make sure that it has your correct name....if not, you may need to delete your numbered folders in the SETIDriver folder and restart SETIDriver, entering your information again (just like starting on a new PC)...

If it's none of the above, post again...someone will figure it out! 🙂

Your last WU was received by Berkeley around 22 hours ago.

Is this a new SetiDriver install?

Did you install it properly?

Check the link Team AnandTech SETI in my sigline for a step by step just to be sure.

And how long did you wait before you hit TRANSMIT a second time?

The initial box opens showing "Connect to server". Then instaed of showing the data (units complete, time, etc.) the box closes quickly. It reopens quickly to process the second unit and does the same thing again. Then the Seti Driver icon goes back to yellow. When I open SetiDriver it shows 2 units to transmit and 2 units ready to fill. When I click transmit again, the box opens, it says deleting temp files and proceed to d/l 2 new units. Seti icon goes to blue and no credit for the 2 units in any stats!

user_info.sah file has correct info.

I'm stumped!!

Sent two units at about 11:30 A.M. CDT. Two units @ 7:30 P.M.

Old install, been crunching along for quite a while! I waited a few minutes this morning before I hit transmit again. This evening I did it right away.

The ones that don't show up in the stats anywhere are in my log file. Just sent another into space???

At this point, I would probably delete all the numbered folders in the SETIDriver folder (after stopping SETIDriver)....restart SETIDriver....enter your information again and see what happens?

Also, I still suggest the TeAm queues! 😉

I'm very puzzled. Here is what I call my HAMMER FIX.

EXIT the current SetiDriver.

Create a new SETI folder and CUT/PASTE only the SetiDriver.exe and the setiathome-3.03.i386-winnt-cmdline.exe from the original Seti Folder to the new one. Start from scratch with this new folder. Keep the rest of the files in the old SETI FOLDER for an attempted transfer at a later date.

You will have to fix your SetiDriver Startup Shortcut to the newly installed one.

The reason I recommend this HAMMER FIX is I have found you can waste more time trying to fix an old install that has somehow gone bad than it's worth.

If the new install works properly and you can transmit and receive without problems (wait for a completed WU to be sure), you can then try to copy the completed WUs over to it ... one at a time ... in an attempt to salvage them.

This is what I would do. Someone may have a better suggestion but I sort of doubt it. We do have some very sharp people here so there is always something new to learn. 😉

Just got in from work. Crunched 3 today and stopped. I had swapped some work units from the old file to the new, so maybe that is the problem now.Closed Seti Driver and re-opened, still doesn't work.

Before you moved any of those old completed WUs, did you have any success transmitting the completed WUs from the new install?

Yep, 3 WU's. I deleted the existing units in the folder and d/l'd new ones. It is up and crunching. I'll just delete those in the old folder. Thanks for the help.

That always sucks when you lose completed WUs. There are a couple of other people in the last day or two who have had the same experience as you.

Hopefully, things will go smoothly from now on. 😉
