hello, I have a 2001 PT Cruiser. I was turning right at an intersectin, and then the car's transmission didn't shift gears, it was as if it slipped into nuetral and will not go in reverse or forward. I was able to coast to the side, and since then the car will not move. We checked the fluid level and it was low so we topped it off, and it did not change. And now we are about to replace the filter and fluid. Are there any other things we should be looking at to explain what's happen?

Thanks for feed back. Have a great day.

You might as well skip the filter or anything else you're gonna do, and just call a tow truck. Your transmission sounds like it's reached the end of it's life.

Fail safe mode would at least give you 2nd and reverse on that transmission (I think).
If you have nothing at all, you may have an internal mechanical failure that can't be fixed on the cheap.
12 years out of a Chrysler automatic transmission from that era isn't bad at all.
You could probably just buy another PT Cruiser for the cost of transmission replacement.

Was there any noise when it happened? Check to make sure a CV joint did not fail. If one breaks you will not move either.

Seriously... Chrysler transmission, particularly from that era? You're lucky to get 100k out of them.

I agree with procharge... Just get it towed. It's not worth trying to repair on the side of the road.
