The recent problems of the Crusoe processor results in recalling back of notebooks sold by Sony and Nec. This does not crippled their plans for year 2001.

In Q1 2001, Transmeta will launched it's TM5600 high end 667Mhz and 700Mhz CPU. At the 2nd half of 2001, the new generation of TM5800 will be announced and it will start at 800Mhz. The new TM5800 will be in 0.13 micron. and will use the newer CMS 4.2 (Code Morphing Software). It will also be faster by 20%.Power consumption will also drop by 40%.

Transmeta also planed to release new processors in Mid 2002. It will launched the 5xxx series.

Does Transmeta have the resources to move to a .13 fab? I didn't know anyone besides Intel had it working, and AMD is very close. I presume Transmeta uses Motorolla plants to make their silicon, but I could be wrong. Don't know if they'll be able to pull it off.

More power to them, though. If they can get competition price-wise and performance-wise than the mobile market may become a bit more serious, with better video cards and screens now available.
