Translating MAC to IP???

I am having a broadcast storm here but Network Monitor is only giving me the MAC address. Does anyone know of a tool/utility that will translate the MAC to IP? I'm going to turn on the ARP cache on my switch and see if that will capture the info, but there has to be an "easy way".

DHCP servers can keep records of what IP they are giving to each MAC, can't they? Otherwise, it's always good to have at least an excel sheet with every systems MAC, hostname, domain, and IP (unless DHCP). Then you'd be a little more prepared. Not that I am.. 🙂

about 2000 workstations and servers here. Maybe I can get the help desk guys to start that spreadsheet 😉

Anyway, I found a way to do it through SMS. Not only did it give me the machine name and IP address, but it also gave me the last username that logged on. I'm off to replace NICs. Thanks for your input!
