for framing, i find a viewfinder is far superior to live view - whether the LV is on a P&S or DSLR.

easier to steady the camera as well for slower shutter speeds when it is pressed up against your eye.

in general, i find looking through the viewfinder immerses you more as an artist INTO the picture and the moment - whereas live view separates that experience a bit - leading to worse framing.
 
I have not used my P&S ever since I bought my DSLR. still use my superzoom occasionally though, especially for video. I don't think I'll go back to my P&S.
