**I had similar feelings about gay marriage 20 years ago. Feared people would “scam” it for tax breaks and cheaper insurance.

Tax breaks? Heh, google "Marriage Tax Penalty" - it's not always a benefit, definitely isn't for me. Enjoy paying more in taxes.

Also I haven't noticed much of a budge in my car insurance rates.... ever heh.

That’s why I was wrong

Same in my house with the car insurance, we are not married but we’ve been together so long we refer to each other as being married. Her insurance guy suggested we get on the couples plan. Simply put I paid $100 more per year got a minuscule amount of better coverage and she got a $100 discount on her policy. Who Hoo big savings!!!!

It would be more interesting and get a way bigger viewing audience than 99% of other “all female” sports where no one cares outside the parents of the girls who play them.

Most people want to watch the best athletes, and in basketball there is a pretty massive difference in the level of play between men and women. The WNBA probably still does better than minor league men's, though.

There are some women's sports people care about like Tennis, Gymnastics and soccer (in the US).

So totally off topic discussion.
Years ago when my wife & I were a new couple, she suggested an adult movie (pre internet streaming days). I knew she liked the classic “I dream of Jeannie” show. I saw a movie with the same title and thought this should be fun......
Should have read the title better, it was “I dream of Queeny”

Man that was embarrassing.

The only real marriage benefit with insurance is getting on a spouse's health coverage. I've known people that have gotten married just for that (all opposite sex). I've also known people in the military that got married just for better deployment pay. I think you do get a savings on car insurance if you're under 25.

What I never understood about that line of thinking is why would someone marry their same sex friend for the benefits, but not their opposite sex friend.

Depends who you can trust more... Marriage is uhh... pretty binding on a lot of things...

Mountain bike racing faced this issue maybe 20 years ago with a post-surg. trans. She was killing local and regional races. Lawsuits ensued, which were lost by the other competing girls who were consistently losing. The post-surg girl continued to dominate until she began entering national competitions which included the real pros, like Missy "The Missle" Giove. The trans girl got her ass handed to her, over and over. She, the post-surg trans girl, disappeared back into the mists from which she came and was really never heard from again, at least nationally.

It will be FUCKING BEAUTIFUL and glorious because you will see the LGTBBQ group clash with the Womens Rights Me Too movements.

Turning them against each other would be rather comical - I can also guarantee you that will be what happens if they actually do let this shit continue.
Me Too is about sexual harassment/assault. It's different than women's rights.

It sort of does. By discussing it here you are enabling the nature of the OP. If a white supremacist has a valid point about something race I am certainly not going to discuss it with him either way!
Anyway, lets do it then. Anyone who feels transgenders should get to compete in the class they identify with, raise your hands... Lets see all these hippie liberals destroying society with their fluid gender crap... lets count some hands... What is that? Zero? Noone? Omg. PLOT TWIST!!!

What you are saying is that, unless someone meets your approval with their views, what they say doesn't count?

Pretty much me.

I get the point that this doesn’t sound fair and I get the point if we project or if what is decided to be a woman extends a bit more we could see many women’s sport college scholarships go to people we may not consider women.
I get his point but I also think let’s deal with that problem if or when it arrives.

**I had similar feelings about gay marriage 20 years ago. Feared people would “scam” it for tax breaks and cheaper insurance.
That hasn’t happened and if someone is scamming it to get cheaper insurance at this point I’m all for it. Fuck the health insurance industry.

Part 2:
This site isn’t mobile friendly and it is over the top but I remember reading about this fight. Transgender mma fighter, She beat the shit out of her opponent. Other fighter said she had never faced such power before, I think her skull was fractured.
Now we are into the safety realm. I really don’t know how to feel about this.

https://www.bjjee.com/articles/tran...getting-too-politically-correct-with-reality/

For sports, you have to remember that you are taking the top of any group. Even at lower levels like High School, the people paying sports is a small fraction of the population. Then, you add in the fact that the gab between Men's abilities to Women's abilities. The times that there will be a male might be infrequent, but, it means that the person will likely not just win, but dominate. So for sports like MMA, we saw a transgender MMA fighter that broke the opponents skull.

It could be selection bias by the media and I have never heard of this, but, I don't know of a transgender MtF that was not anything other than dominate.

What we are likely to see is Female sports become even less popular than they are now.

The issue here though isn't anything to do with trans-sexual issues, it's the fundamentally arbitrary and silly nature of competitive sport.

Everyone involved has _some_ 'unfair' advantage or disadvantage that is not under their control.

Anyone with a disability or chronic illness is under a disadvantage (and only small proportion of the former have exactly the right level and kind of disability to qualify for something like the para-olympics)

The solution is to stop taking the whole silly business so seriously.

That is not framing it correctly. The advantage that a trans MtF has is vastly different than standard variation between women.

Also, your solution is no solution at all. The reason we have female sports and not just sports, is because 99%+ of the pro athletes would be men if we just left it to ability.

Look at it like this.

Men's
https://www.olympic.org/rio-2016/athletics/100m-men

Women's
https://www.olympic.org/rio-2016/athletics/100m-women

The fastest women in 2016 for the 100 meter was @ 10.90, The slowest man was 10.06. You are talking about almost .9 difference between the fastest woman and the slowest of the men.

If we do not split sports by gender, this gap will play out over most sports. Girls already have a hard enough time getting people to watch them play. You would kill just about every major female league if you just stop caring like you suggest.

How does that invalidate my solution? Everyone stop caring who can "win" in some arbitrarily-constructed test that serves no useful purpose exterior to itself. Problem solved. In my solution there wouldn't be any 'athletes', not in the sense of high-status paid careers. You want to go run round in circles, go ahead, have fun. But nobody's going to care how fast you do it or pay you for it. The idea is to kill every major league, male or female.

Even in a "non-physical" sport like golf, if you combined men and women there would be zero women in the pros.

I think it is really weird how we've gone from Title 9 in 1972 to fuck women's sports in 2019.

We can debate the benefits of major league sports all day, but sports have numerous benefits for kids. If you make it impossible for girls to win or even dangerous to compete, they will give up on sports and lose those benefits.

And regardless of what you or I think of the pros, pro sports aren't going anywhere.

Wait, are you saying stop caring about sports?
