For those that remember Transformers the movie...

The toy!

Retail @ 49.99, on clearance at Target in SD for 29.99.

If I still played w/ toys, man, this one would be a no brainer. haha, I'm tempted to get it for sentimental reasons.

Who remembers Spike swearing in the movie? =)

Heh, I am a Transformers freak. I've loved them since I was 6, and have almost 400. I've got the movie on DVD and VHS, and remember Spike swearing. I've also contemplated getting this for sentimental reasons! 😀

True, he's not the Unicron from the movie, but because he is A Unicron and the fact that he's probably the only one we'll ever get, I'll take him. He's the only Armada toy that I actually liked. Too bad they never made the Beast Wars II Unicron toy, that would have been awesome. There are prototype pics floating around if you search.

EDIT: here's the link to it at amazon...it's not even a freaken sphere. He looks more like a snowglobe

Yeah, that's what has kept me from buying it. I remember seeing a pic of a prototype G1 Unicron that never made it into production in an issue of ToyFare. I wish they would have made that one! Hard to believe that he was voiced by the great Orson Welles!

Ahhh...the good ol days. Even the new Transformers (not as good as the old) is better than today's cartoons and kid's toys. I still have a bunch of the original Transformers somewhere at my parents' house. I've seen some of them at hobby/collectible shops for some pretty decent money too.

It's too bad they never made a decent videogame based on the series. Here's to good memories of playing with Transformers.

Now that's what Unicron suppose to look like or at least that's what the toy is suppose to look like. The Armada Unicron have wheels right? wheel? Anyways the old transformers still the best, pointy and die cast heavy so you can hurt someone or protect your self with it.

Saw this at Target a few weeks ago. Pretty darn cool, I just don't get the new Transformers.

Did you read the back of the box? The storyline is similar but a bit different...Megatron thinks he can use Unicron to attack the Autobots, or something. I guess it makes sense, since this is a parallel universe and not something earlier or later than the original.

Sorry to get serious, I'm a fairly big Transformers nerd (obviously).

Hot deal, since these toys are still cooler than 90% of the stuff kids (and some adults) play with these days.

Yeah, just look at all the 80s - early 90s toys (Transformers, He-man, TMNT,etc.) coming back. What does that tell you about today's toys?

well other than the fact that current toys have a very strick safely requirement, the new cartoon series seems more for kids, even the toys are getting more kiddy by the minute, you know large action figures (ken dolls). But the video game and computer/internet plays a big role in the downfall of good toys too.

Oh there's also a big demand for the toys you listed because all the kids that grow up watching those series have money now, so they can finaly get what they really wanted, some even work fulltime to promoting them.

I'm a Mecha fan, so Macross/transformers/gundam are still toy/models that I still buy when i see something I like. Man back in the days my Optimus Prime came unassemble/model in a box with some japanese writing and 2 stick of import gum that the supermarket down the street were selling for $2.50. Which do transform the same and looks pretty good after you build it. You can almost get all your transformers in those little boxes., Too bad they don't make them no more.

Orson Wells did do the voice for unicron. But he died during this time he was doing the voice and Nimoy(galvatron) did some of it as well.

Little transformers trivia 🙂

Bump.

Picked this up yesterday at Wal-Mart for $25 on clearance. There are apparently two boxes for the same toy. One is Transformers Armada and the other is Transformers Energon. If you're a collector, this would matter. 😉

yah... whats the point of having wheels on Transformers Armada Unicron? I mean, ok, the guy was the size of cybertron about in planet mode. And, granted, if he was in robot mode, he could circle the planet in like 5 seconds. Why not just crush and destroy with his feet.

sigh... dumb armada. 🙁
