well for those of us who grew up with Transformers, it would be a step in the wrong direction to start messing around with the original designs of the characters. That being said, I fully expect this movie to be typical Hollywood crap. The original animated movie from the 80's set the bar way too high, there is no way this movie will come close.

I think nostalgia has clouded your judgement. Have you actually gone back and watched the cartoon recently? It's really pretty crappy. Not too long ago I thought it would be cool to watch some again, but I was disappointed. As I watched it I couldn't help but think, "Wow, I actually liked this?". Don't get me wrong, I still love TFs and remember fondly the enjoyment the toys gave me, but the cartoon was so damn cheesy.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was poorly drawn, the editing was awful, and the story was really weak (WTF- who the hell would make fish robots, and Quintisons? LAME!)

I still cried when Optimus Prime died though :)

Apparently some of the vehicles from the originals are not the same in the movie...

which is retarded.

Optimus is apparently not a flat front semi. I will not see the movie.

The animated Transformers movie from 1986 set the bar for action in the series. There is no way that this upcoming movie can compete.

You're not going to see it because they modified the designs of the characters??? Who cares? They're giant robots that turn into things. Michael Bay said they wanted to, believe it or not, make the transformations more realistic, so they built the models of all of them so that the transformations would actually work. So, hate to tell you, but the transforemations in the animated movies wouldn't work out too well in reality.

If the movie is good, then its good. If it sucks, it sucks. Time will tell

Oddly, all my toys were based off the cartoons characters, and they mostly transformed just fine.

I honestly wish they had stuck with some CGI animation. Kinda like the new Ninja Turtles trailer I saw somewhere.

Live action? Michael Bay? Hmm....

starscream will be an F-22 Raptor in the live-action movie
Michael Bay has stated they have tremendous military support, during production they often had thousands of troops on set and the military vehicles in use too. The real F-22 is during production too.
that makes me happy. I love the Raptor and am hoping they do it justice in the movie. I don't care so much for Starscream (never was a Transformers kid myself), but I do hope they don't CGI the hell out of the Raptor except during transformation scenes.

i dont think the movie itself will. I think the only thing bad about it will be fans hating it not being completely true to the original storylines and characters.
but as a 'never played with a transformer or watched a transformer movie/cartoon in my life' type of person, I am looking forward to the action of the movie. :) I trust Michael Bay for that. And I have loved every movie I have watched of his.

I thought you were joking when I read the title. I have never heard about this movie, and I thought it was a movie based on that little kiddies cartoon show. Which is actually sort of is, but it looks cool.

You know, they almost had to update the vehicles. If they didn't, it would be like the 1985 series being made up of cars from 1965. Everyone would wonder why all the cars are so old.

From the man who brought you such gems as "Pearl Harbor," "Armageddon," and "Bad Boys 2..."

Michael Bay is the scourge of Hollywood and there is no possible way the movie can be anything other than vacuous.

I think they pretty much do that with all movies based on comic books and/or cartoons. For example Spiderman. I think in the comic books the spider that bit Parker was irradiated instead of being genetically altered in the movie. It's just to make the movies more updated with the current moviegoers.

Pearl Harbor has to be the second worst film I've ever seen. And I've seen Manos: The Hands of Fate, Robot Monster, The Beast of Yucca Flats, The Incredibly Strange Creatures That Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies, Fire Maidens From Outer Space, A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell, you name it. If it's bad, I've probably seen it. And his movies are worse.

Change can be very good, all you nerds who say its going to suck simply because they might change some designs need to move out of your mother's basement, because there are better alternatives.

Now I could understand saying the movie is going to be crap because Michael Bay is directing, but I'll wait and see. It seems like you can either get gems like Spiderman/Batman Begins, or flops like The Hulk and Fantastic Four...the spectrum is pretty wide open.

ohh its not going to suck because they change stuff. they have to. if they used cars from the cartoon it would look dated. they needed to update the models. though they could have still had bumblebee as a VW bug.

its going to suck because movies based of comics or cartoons nearly always suck.
