Optimus is apparently not a flat front semi. I will not see the movie.

The animated Transformers movie from 1986 set the bar for action in the series. There is no way that this upcoming movie can compete.

You're not going to see it because they modified the designs of the characters??? Who cares? They're giant robots that turn into things. Michael Bay said they wanted to, believe it or not, make the transformations more realistic, so they built the models of all of them so that the transformations would actually work. So, hate to tell you, but the transforemations in the animated movies wouldn't work out too well in reality.

If the movie is good, then its good. If it sucks, it sucks. Time will tell

Spielberg is the Executive Producer.

But yes, Michael Bay is directing it.

Like I said, a lot of people who have watched the original transformers will not be happy with the changes, I myself think they are also really dumb changes. But realizing that, I will probably still go and see it out of curiousity just to see how it will be.

Well I don't particularly like flames on the side of Optimus Prime, but, I also don't really care enough for it to affect my interest in the movie. Considering I, nor most other people, have seen a single frame of this movie (other than that teaser trailer), I'll reserve my judgement until I do.

well for those of us who grew up with Transformers, it would be a step in the wrong direction to start messing around with the original designs of the characters. That being said, I fully expect this movie to be typical Hollywood crap. The original animated movie from the 80's set the bar way too high, there is no way this movie will come close.

It will probably be a decent "stuff blowing up" movie, but looking at the history of the writers, I have my doubts about anything else.

As long as they make that robotic duck sound when they transform, I'm good :D

I think nostalgia has clouded your judgement. Have you actually gone back and watched the cartoon recently? It's really pretty crappy. Not too long ago I thought it would be cool to watch some again, but I was disappointed. As I watched it I couldn't help but think, "Wow, I actually liked this?". Don't get me wrong, I still love TFs and remember fondly the enjoyment the toys gave me, but the cartoon was so damn cheesy.
