Transferring Windows Live emails to new computer

When I export my (1000 plus) emails to a flash drive, it takes only a second or two.
When I import them into my new computer, only a couple emails are there.
I have carefully checked "all" when exporting.

What's the secret to getting all emails?
Is there a maximum number that can be exported?

There's two ways to export them, to windows live mail or to outlook-exchange pst file. Wich one you tried? The latter will work better.

Thanks for your reply.

I exported as Windows Live Mail.

When I select Microsoft Exchange (the only other option), it says "there is no email program associated to perform the requested action." I find no way to avoid this message.

Still baffled.

How about just copy/pasting the relevant folders to the new installation? I don't use Live Mail, so I don't know where they are, but if it's the same program you're coming from, that should work ok.

For that to work, you need Microsoft Office with Outlook.
