I need to transfer a long string of text (wireless password) from my Nexus 5 to Nokia 521 using bluetooth, this has to be simple right?

Nexus 5 has SIM card activated and WiFi works.

Nokia 521 does NOT have SIM card and WiFi does not currently work.

Yes I could temporarily unsecure my WiFi, use the Nokia 521 to unsecurely access my e-mail, copy the wireless password, paste it in, then rescure the WiFi but I don't want to.

Any other suggestions? Bluetooth works on both phones.

are you worried about it being unsecure temporarily? Why don't you just change the password to something shorter (but not unsecure) for the purposes of connecting and doing what you need to do?

I only say this because I haven't had good luck with BT transfer even between like phones, let alone different OSes.

Not really but there has to be a relatively simple solution to transfer a string of text 82099C6EAB7BB533C26DD5A2563A15F97031C9F75631C6499B6710967C from point A to point B.

Might be a long shot, but try this on the Nokia 521:

Hit the Search button -> Bing Vision (for 8.0) -OR- Camera -> Lenses -> Bing Vision (8.1)

Hit Scan Text. Scan the text on the Nexus 5 screen. If the app recognizes the text, you should be able to tap it, copy from the text box, and then paste it into your wi-fi settings.

A+ for effort, I might actually give it a try.

Wouldn't it be quicker to just type it. :)

Nah too many UPPER & lower case, numbers, etc. would take 5 minutes + 10 minutes swearing + 5 explaining to wife why I'm screaming at the phone = no thanks.

... Isn't the obvious method to make a text file connect it to a PC, and put it on the Windows Phone? If you don't have a PC, bluetooth file transfer should work.

I'm not sure if this is still an issue, but swapping the SIM card might have been the fastest route. Email the number to yourself, swap the SIM to the 521, pick up the email on cell data.
