So I got Rock Band 2 a couple days ago. Now I want to go rent Rock Band and transfer the songs over, but from what I've read, you have to enter a password or code or something before you can do that. There was a code on my RB2 manual, but it says it's for downloading 20 bonus songs. Is this the same code used for transferring? Or is there a different one somewhere that I didn't get?

You have to pay $5 to get the license to transfer the RB1 songs. I think the option is on the RB2 main menu somewhere.

Ya, it's something you buy through the marketplace. I think you actually "export" from RB1 rather than "import" from RB2. I remember exporting all the songs before I even bought RB2. It should show up in RB1 menus somewhere as well I think, aand when you click on it it'll say you have to pay 400 points or whatever to do it.

Correct. You will need to download an update for RB1 before the option appears, but it's straight-forward as long as your Xbox is connected to the internet.

It's really a great price to pay for the convenience of having all the tracks loaded into one game and it's a phenomenal price for the ~50 extra tracks if you borrow the disc from a friend or something.

The 20 bonus download songs aren't all that great... but free is free. I guess they either didn't have room on the disc for them or they thought people would care enough about these songs to buy a new copy vs. used. Edit: Or they weren't done by the time the game had to go to press.

You can do all this stuff from the RB1 disc. You put the disc in and the main menu shows 'export RB songs'. It'll let you buy the $5 licence and then export the songs.

Ah, cool. So no code required for the transfer? Nice to know. I bought it from GameStop and you know how bad they are about including stuff sometimes.
