Transferring Oblivions saved games to different pc

Im currently without my desktop becuase Im waiting for my 7900GTco to show up. I started playing Oblivion last night on my laptop to check it out and love it. Now I don't want to wait for my new video card to play. In the old days you could just find the saved games folder and move it over to the other computer and it would work fine. Is this doable with Oblivion?

Speaking of which, is there any way to have multiple characters or is it just one at a time?
I kind of want to start over but I want to keep my current character. I guess I could just backup the older save games.

I'm doing a bad thing now. Making an assumption. You could start over in Morrowind and in Daggerfall with different characters. It's been too long now to remember about Arena, though. Based on past behavior, I'm going to say you can do so, just don't write over the first set of game saves.
