Transferring from VHS to DVD

I'm trying to use my ATI All in Wonder TV edition to transfer vhs's from a vcr to the computer and then I would end up burning them to a DVD. The problem I'm running into is there is such a delay between the VCR and getting to the monitor that it's just displaying static. Has anyone else had this problem and has anyone else found a way around it?

Are these commercial VHS tapes? Sounds like a Macrovision issue to me.

Yeah, I'm trying to convert a bunch of my old kids movies for my friend's son. I just keep getting static.

yeah can't do that without some help, but that may break the terms here. Just think little black box for video
