transferring files

Whats a quicky, easy way to transfer files between two computers on the same network without using something like AIM?

Thanks

Its a network with a router/firewall. Only one computer has ftp setup. But I think the firewall is doing screwy things with AIM

Just use filesharing.
AIM is inefficient for same-network transfers because it goes from PC 1 -> AIM server -> PC 2, with goodness knows how many stops in between.

Just share a folder on one computer and copy it in there from there other, or vice versa.

yeah, share the drives and then just drag and drop. All you need to do is make sure sharing is on, and then map the drive.

You should also be able to type //computername in start->run, that should open it up.

just use the OS method, if you are running windows use windows shares, if you are running linux/unix then use scp
