Transferring files from PC to laptop

So I just bought a new IBM Thinkpad T43 but it has no music on it. All my music is in iTunes on my PC. Is there a way to direct transfer to the laptop using a cable of some sort? I do have an iPod, but it seems like too much trouble to use that and upload it using some third party software or whatever. Let me know what you guys think.

I thought routers costed a lot more. A router and network would be fast though. Regardless, if you do decide to go the iPod route I got something called CopyPod that worked well for me. It's a 14 day trial but it's fully functional and I only needed to use it once to transfer some songs anyway.

ok well i do have a router...

it's wireless though. and my pc is in my room and it's wireless. i could plug the laptop into the router but the PC would still be wireless....it's slow for transferring unless i'm doing something wrong. i really dont know how to transfer w/o setting UP a network which i dont think i have...

and not too sure how to set up a network

blah...sorry i feel like a total noob
