Transferring excel files via iPhone

At work (govt facility) I have a spreadsheet, next to me on the desk is a MacBook Pro, I want to transfer a file from the desktop to the laptop via email, using my iPhone as an intermediary (no Wifi for the MBP to connect to).

It actually doesn't have to be email, just so that I can get the file from the iPhone to the laptop.

Desktop is running Office 07, and Win XP
Laptop is running 10.6
iPhone is running 3.1.3 + JB

Any help would be appreciated. I want to see if I can do things in Numbers more easily than in Excel, and don't want to have to completely retype the spreadsheet.

I have no idea.
But that's never stopped me before... :D
Can you use the phone as a "disk drive" and transfer it that way?

Unfortunately not. At least, not that I am aware of. I think it might be possible with third party software, but I don't think I have that.

If someone can come up with a solution that doesn't involve tethering (first gen iPhone, dog slow intertrons) I will appreciate it for the future. But for now, I got <redacted> and used that to tether.

Can't you use like iPhone Explorer and transfer it into the picture folder?

Does iPhone explorer go onto the iPhone or the laptop? Once it is in the pictures folder (on the iPhone?) how does it then get onto the laptop?

Goes on your computer. If it's jailbroken you can put it anywhere. You would have to connect it to both computers through the USB port anyways since you don't have wifi access and bluetooth file support does not exist.

Apple forum <------- way?

The iPhone was the key to this situation, hence GG&P. Either probably would have worked, but I figured I would get more on the phone solutions this way.

iPhone Explorer needs to be installed on both computers, then you could put it in any of the folders on your iPhone.

Govt facility, I cannot install to the desktops. No jumpdrives either, which would have really made this easier.

Interesting logic puzzle. So you can't even connect your iPhone to your desktop?

I can physically connect it, and Windows recognizes what it is, but since I cannot install anything onto the desktop...

Here is what I was thinking:
1: email file from desktop to gmail
2: email gets downloaded to iPhone
3: connect iPhone to laptop
4: get file off iPhone

If I were to sync the mailboxes between the phone and laptop, you think that would work?

That should work. I think the download folder on iPhone is easily found using iPhone explorer.

Ok, assuming my existing scenario, where the destination machine does not have internet access...

As I said, I have since gotten the file, I tethered my phone and downloaded the file from gmail.
