Transferring a program from computer to cd

So my dad asks me to back up a program of his. It wouldn't be such a big deal, except that the program is from old DOS days (updated twice up to basic windows version), and the registry keys are nowhere to be found.

How to do it? If i just copied all the files onto a cd, i couldn't run it for lack of registry keeys, right?

help?
 
hmmm if it's an old-school program maybe there aren't any registry keys. try it with a cd-rw so you don't loose those 50 cents for the cd-r if it doesn't work.
