Transfering variable speed control from TT to Panaflo.

Transfering variable speed control from TT to Panaflo.

I have an old orange Thermaltake Intellifan that is just too loud. I also have some new Panaflo 80mm high speed fans made in Japan. I would like to use the (rheostat ?) controller on the Pana but I don't know electronics. The controller has a red wire and a black wire that both go into a white plastic two hole end plug thing.
That fits into another white plug with two pins that run two yellow wires into the TT fan.
The fan has another two pin plug that runs two red wires into the TT fan. This is for the thermal sensor. In addition, there are the three common wires coming from the fan for the power supply.
The speed controller and thermal sensor inputs are soldered to a cb each sharing two solder points. I guess shorting these two points completes the supply circuit which can be done by either the thermal sensor OR the speed controller.

My Panaflo (model FBA08A12H) has a bare pigtail with 3 wires (yellow, black, red).

Can I splice the controller into one of these wires and control the fan speed?

Edit: Also, I believe this model pana really has no rotational speed sensor, so I think one of those wires is useless. Which color is which?

Thanks.
