Transfering MP3's to an iPhone

I am getting an iPhone soon, and was wondering if I could transfer my MP3's that i've obtained over the years to my iPhone, or if it only allowed songs downloaded from iTunes. I don't mine using iTunes to do the transfer...I just don't want to pay $1 per song.

You should be able to transfer them without a problem you'll just have to use iTunes to do it.

You can import existing MP3 files into iTunes and then into your iPhone. In fact, when you first install iTunes, it will ask you if you want to do so.
