UPDATE:

for some odd reason when i first installed win2k and win98 on my OLD drive the drive letters got all messed up....when i run Win2k, my win2k drive became D: and my win98 drive was E:....but when i run Win98 my win2k drive was C: and my win98 drive was D:......

since i put in the new hdd and fdisked....the new hard drive is now C: and F: and my old hard drive is d: and E:... i think this is goign to cause some major problems when transferrnig everything and trying to boot up......how can i prepare my win2k and win98 NOW so reflect the new hdd letters so when i take out the old hdd and put in the new hdd, everything will work fine??

They might, check support & or drivers/utilities on thier website, I personally have had good luck With Norton Ghost.

There are a number of ways to install a new hard drive and transfer your existing operating system, applications and data from your old drive to the new. Some may prefer to use full-featured imaging utilities such as Norton Ghost or Drive Image, but buying those programs really is not necessary just to install a new drive. All drive manufacturers provide free utilities for installing and configuring new drives. These utilities usually come with the retail versions of new drives, or may be downloaded from the manufacturer?s website.

Here are links for downloading drive manufacturers? free drive installation/configuration utilities:
IBM
Maxtor

Quantum

Seagate
Western Digital

A PC Magazine article explaining procedures for installing and configuring a new HDD may be found here.

This is better than Norton Ghost

I posed this question a few weeks ago because we had to clone a bunch of machines in the lab. We used Image Cast and it was nearly twice as fast. (80mb/min vs. 45mb/min.)

Norton is a good program too, but I think everyone is suggesting Norton because of the branding power of Norton. This is a shame because programs like Image Cast or Drive Image are just as good, if not better. So, yeah, there are other options out there.
