I have a 20gig maxtor 7200 HD that im currently using. And I have another 40gig Maxtor im not using but would like to use as a primary.

I have a GA-7VRXP board. How do I set up another hard drive on my computer? do I use a 3 connector cable and use it as a slave? Or do I use the RAID controller on the motherboard? Is it possible to take all the data from the 20 gig and put it on the 40gig without corrupting the files?

thanx.

As long as the system can see the drives, it shouldn't make a difference. I usually use Drive Image or Ghost, but the Max Blast utility from Maxtor should work fine. There's no reason you should have file corruption. It's usually a good idea to make sure the drive you're copying from has no errors. Also, some versions of some of the copying software can't see NTFS partitions.

Your best bet is something like ghost. Hook your 40gig upo as a slave and use ghost to copy.

I use a program called Drive Copy. I like it because it is very simple and intuitive to use. It operates from two bootable floppies that also include some helpful utilities.
