transfering content from DVD to PC

Hello

I have got a sony DVD Handycam DVD201E, i am trying to transfer the contents of the DVD in the handycam to my pc. I connected the camera through USB to my pc, however the pc is not recognising the camera. i did a search for the USB driver and came across posts which say that imagemixer 1.5 is required. cant find that on the net.

is imagemixer 1.5 the only way i can transfer the dvd content to my hard drive?

Not to sound rude, but did you turn the camera on? Your PC should find it no matter what, and if you have XP installed, ask you if you want to use their movie maker software. Do you have a firewire connection? I use Ulead Virtual Studio 10 personally, like it a lot. Its about $100.

yes, i did have the camera on, but it was not recognised at all by my pc. would it be because the storage material is a dvd not a memory stick

If you don't mind not being able to use the DVD again, you can always finalize it in the camera then put the disk in the computer and use a tool to rip and convert it.

i did finalise the dvd in the camera (i thought the finalise allows the reading of the dvd and allows future writes of the dvd) and then tried to read it on my pc. the pc hangs for a while and then says no dvd.

Probably because you finalized it. Now that you have, you can put the DVD in your PC, and use any editing software to edit it.
