basically I have 1Gb of buildings for simcity 4 to send my buddy...how do it...I tried to send it over skype but it said like 24+ hours...how do I accomplish this

step by step instructions would be appreciated

How did you ZIP the files? If you used the integrated compressor in Windows, it'll give a pathetic compression ratio.

Use WinRAR instead; compress it using a "solid" archive (it treats the data as one continuous stream, giving better compression, usually). You can also split it up into multiple files.
Maybe you can at least shave off 100MB or so.

Torrent it.

You could just do it over windows messenger couldn't you? I doubt anything is going to be that fast if your connection is the limiting factor though.

I can't really imagine any of the other suggestions being better than this one. This is what I would've done, no question. Glad the OP got it worked out with dropbox or whatever. I guess I'll look that up one day if the File Transfer Protocol protocol suddenly stops existing...

Edited because Leros made me feel stupidly redundant for writing FTP Protocol..

I posted this the last time this came up: When the question is "how do I transfer files?" the correct answer is almost always "use the File Transfer Protocol".

Wouldn't it make more sense to encode the files in some sort of auditory format, record them to cassette tapes, mail them to his friend, then decode the audio? Of course you would need a large amount of error correction bits, but it seems like a a good idea. Sort of like a modem, but recording the call instead of sending it over a wire.
