Transfer Windows XP to different PC

Hey all,
I have Windows SP3 Home for System builders. I have installed it on my Macbook in Bootcamp and use it as a VM. I recently built a new desktop computer and I want to know if it is possible to transfer this Win XP software license onto my desktop for use. In other words, stop using it on the laptop and begin to use it on the desktop computer instead.

If anybody has done this, please help me out with some advice. Otherwise, please point me in the right direction if you know if this can be done.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

If the question is whether it can & has been done before, it has. If the question is whether you're supposed to do that with an OEM/system-builder license, no you're not. If you complied with the license agreement, the software is now married to your Mac and the license sticker is now adhered to the Mac somewhere.

If you want to get another OEM/system-builder license, I suggest 64-bit Vista Buisness OEM. Why?

1) that version comes with downgrade rights (PDF file explaining how), so you can use WinXP Pro if you prefer, and

2) if/when you're done with WinXP and 32-bit OSes, you can still use your Vista license, and it's 64-bit too.

The same caveat applies, though... if you want a license that's freely transferrable, pick Retail versions of Windows instead of OEM.
