Transfer win XP partition to harddrive

I have a dual boot system ( 2 partitions) with Win 98 and XP on a 40GB Maxtor D740X. The drive has been making a "thunking" noise with lockups so I believe it may be failing. I have not activated XP yet, I have 28 days left.

I am attempting to transfer the partitions to an 18GB WD. I have tried WD EZ drive which transfers the Win 98 partition, but chokes on the Win XP partition....going back to the A: prompt. I tried Xcopy32 which copies the WinXP partition, but the drive will not boot.

Does this have anything to do with with the XP activation scheme? Both utilities have always worked for me in the past transfering partitions.

Thanks for any insight.

those included programs usually choke in NT. So its probably not activation. Try using ghost or drive image. PM me if you need more help.
