We have bought a new IBM Thinkpad T43 and I have transferred the data from the old machine using the Files and Settings wizard. But I still need/want to get the Outlook Express on the new machine looking as it did on the old one. It keeps failing to send although it receives OK from Cs Yahoo account??? Plus the OE folders and archives look nowhere near similar and the desktop looks completely different?

Any way to solve this? (Point by point friendly version)

hi, if i understand you correctly, would it be possible for you to just this manually such as export your addressbook from Outlook Express and just export your mail into a csv, or a pst, or what ever, then import them all onto the new laptop once you have them copied over to the new one in some folder, also then resetup the accounts using the same settings on the old laptop as a base. That should take care of getting your messages and contacts over to the new laptop for you if the wizard didnt work for it, as for your destop... different as in? programs not installed?->install them, background different?-just copy the file the old background was in to the new laptop, then set up that background with that file as the source, the icon layout? data is missing as in folders or documents?

Doing it manually is pretty simple. Cleanup OE in the old pc - delete uneeded messages. Export your mail accounts - Tools Accounts Export,
export your address books File Export Address Book(s). For Inbox/Sent/Other folders - find the location of the <folder name>.ndx files - highlight the folder and then File - Properties, or do a global search using the wildcard *.ndx. Save these files on a shared folder, copy to new pc and then import accounts/add books. For the folders, locate the default location in the new pc and copy the *.ndx files to that subfolder.
