Hey all, I want to transfer everything from one hard drive to another hard drive. What is the best way to do it. I have a copy of Norton Ghost 5.1d. Do I use it? Will it create the boot sector on new drive? Is there an easy(ier) way to do this. Never tried it, but now I need to. Help!

What might be easiest is just to connect one drive as master, the other as slave (jumper settings on the back). Then you can just copy stuff from one partition (drive) to another (be sure you know which partitions are which though).

I would personally use a program such as Norton Ghost to image one drive to the other. Works perfectly.

I agree with sickNtired. Ghost will give you a bit for bit copy rather than a file for file copy.

Will Ghost also take care of making it a bootable drive? Or do I need to do it manually? Thanks!

I used Ghost. It worked great! I have Ghost 5.1d, which is DOS based. Is there a windows based version of this?

use norton ghost....budman gave it to me and it works great....very fast and you dont even have to format the new hdd....it copies a perfect clone.
set the one you wna tto copy from as master adn the one your copying to as slave they can be cabled together and have the norton ghost on a bootable floppy and restart with it in A: and jsut follow the instructions...very easy...and i am an idiot...lol
