Transfer Iphone 3GS info to Iphone 4?

When using Itunes can I backup and restore all my contacts and music to my new iphone once it comes?
 
I believe when you hook the new phone in iTunes will ask if you want to 'restore from a backup.'

BTW, not to thread-hijack, but are we going to be able to have AT&T cut down our SIM cards so we can pop it in the new phone and keep our current number?
 
I tunes syncs all your data on your computer, so if you get a new phone it will be able to resync all that data onto your new phone. You have to make sure itunes is syncing everything you need though.
 
Sync your 3GS right before you go over to the 4. Then when you activate your iPhone 4, it will ask if you want to restore from backup. I have done this many time. I'm am currently using the iOS 4 GM on my 4th 3GS (the first 3 were replaced under AppleCare for various defects), and I'm still running off a backup that started with my 2G running OS 1.14.
