so the 5400 rpm drive in my laptop is pissing me off, and i'd like to up to a 7200 (ssd would be nice, but i don't want to spend a few Gs to get the capacity!)

anyways, is there and relatively easy way to transfer my data to a new drive without having to re-install vista, and all the software?

here's a tech run-down:

Current: ~110 GB of data on Vista SP1 drive on lenovo x61, SATA 2.5" 5400 drive

other hardware that could be useful:
external 2.5" usb 160 GB hds (x2) - 1 is an ide enclosure
a 3.5" sata external enclosure and 750 GB drive
there is an internal dvd drive available, but burning the data to disc is not an option imho.

any help would be appreciated.

Connect the new hard drive via an enclosure, use something like Acronis to clone the drive in your laptop over to it.

Or google for "hard drive clone" for free software.
