I got Office Xp for free while I was in school. I got Office 2002 the same way. After uninstalling 2002, I gave it to my brother-in-law. When he tried to install it, it said that it was already installed on another computer and wouldn't let him use it.

I want to buy a new computer, but I don't want to lose that Office Xp. Does the software that moves your settings, etc. from computer to computer include installed programs like Office and games?

If the software requires activation then you can only install it on one system at a time. Once it's activated it can't be activated again unless you call Microsoft. They'll give you a new activation key so you can install the software on a new system.
